T-shirt update

Unfortunately, a few people who had pre-ordered their t-shirts didn’t get them at the party because of a mixup at the printers. We are still waiting for replacement t-shirts from them and will ship them to the adresses collected during the party. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience!

Solskogen 2009 is soon upon us all, and we thought this would be a good time to refresh you all on some key points, taking special care to mention some Solskogen 101 basics for our new visitors:

If you have never been to Solskogen before:

• Solskogen is a demoscene event - it is not a “LAN-party” or a gaming event.
• Drinking is allowed if you are over 18 (and let’s face it, you wouldn’t be sharing your undying love for the Amiga, Atari or blocky DOS demos if you aren’t), but severly drunken and disorderly behaviour is NOT ACCEPTED. It’s about having fun with your demoscene friends, not vomiting in (or around) your sleeping bag
• Sleeping is mainly done in tents, so bring your own. In the case of extreme rain, there is a separate room inside that can be used for sleeping as well.
• The BBQ on saturday is free for all attendants (with tickets, of course)
• Take a look at the guide for getting to the partyplace - it can be quite handy. The easiest way, if you’re driving, is to use GPS - or to share a ride with someone who has been here before.
• Music and graphics compos are held on friday - demo, intro and wild-compos are held on saturday

For returning visitors / news for this year:

• If you take a train, do try to coordinate to get a lift with someone from the train station to the partyplace, or: someone to share a taxi with - taking a taxi alone isn’t cheap!
• When you arrive at the partyplace, find an organizer to get a ticket (or to validate the one you bought in advance)
• There will be a dinner service on friday. In order to partake, you’ll have to purchase a dinner ticket - it costs 50,- NOK and the time and place of the serving will be announced at the partyplace.

That’s about it - now start packing your things, finish your entry, and enjoy the party!

No more pre-orders - pay at the door

That’s it - no more pre-orders accepted! You are of course very welcome to Solskogen 2009, but you’ll have to get your ticket at the door. For those who have ordered t-shirts: they are being printed today, in the size you ordered. Custom job and all ;)

For everyone else, this would be a good time to update yourself with the travelling info.

It is only two short weeks until Solskogen 2009 is upon us all, and we are looking forward to seeing you. This coming thursday (the 9th of July) is the deadline for purchasing your tickets before the party. It is also the very last date for you to buy a t-shirt. This year we will only print t-shirts for people who actually order (and pay) them in advance, so that we don’t end up with obsolete stock. So - if you want a t-shirt, you need to order it now!

Three concerts booked

Oh boy do we have news for you - at Solskogen this year, you will get to rock out to Next Life, Miu (formerly known as Kaktusen) as well as a specially imported DJ treat which we’ll keep secret just a little longer.

Next Life was founded in 1999 by Hai Nguyen Dinh in Tønsberg, Norway. The music was composed with an Amiga computer and electric guitar. Since then the Next Life sound has grown to incorporate other computer and consoles such as the Commodore 64, Sega Megadrive, Super Nintendo, as well as other sources of noise. Next Life are supported by Norsk Kulturråd, Arts Council Norway.

Live Next Life is extended with epileptic video projections, auto-lightning, and fast characters on stage.

Miu is the new name of norwegian demoscene musician Kaktusen from PlayPsyCo. He plays a live set mixed with mashups and DJ elements and guarantees us a night to remember, with the description “from chip to hardcore in 200 BPMs”
